Youth and SOLAR

December's meeting played host to 5 members of the International Baccalaureate (IB) program at Coronado High School. They presented their plans for doing their CAS project, part of the enhanced curricular activities required by the IB program, with a focus on solar energy. According to team "SOLAR" they're efforts will concentrate on building community awareness about solar energy in the "everyday."

Asked why they chose solar as their area of concentration, they said that solar represented the future of a renewable energy mix and who better to talk about the future than students who will be living in it. Team “SOLAR” plans on showing solar technology in area parks, talking to other students from both their school and area schools about solar, and joining a global initiative that brings solar and renewable energy issues to light for their school.

EPSEA looks forward to partnering and supporting them as they learn for themselves, teach others, and bring solar awareness to El Paso and the surrounding community. Go SOLAR.
